Good resistance to rot and fungus
During heating, the nutrients contained in the wood are lost. This means that rot and fungus find it very difficult to take hold and grow.

Dimensionally stable
Heat-treated wood has a very low moisture content and absorbs less moisture than normal wood, increasing dimensional stability by up to 50%.

Increased insulating capacity
Heat-treated wood becomes more porous than other wood. This means that the insulation capacity increases by about 25-30 percent compared to untreated wood. This makes Thermowood® ideal for sauna saunas.

Environmentally friendly
Thanks to the positive properties that arise from the heat treatment, no chemicals that are harmful to the environment and health need to be used. The wood used is freshly sorted pine from environmentally certified forestry from northern Sweden. The product is Nordic Swan Ecolabeled.

Used wood is sorted and disposed of as untreated wood
Thermowood® can be burned or disposed of as ordinary wood. This is in contrast to pressure-treated timber, NTR-classified, which must be disposed of as hazardous waste.

Longer life span
Heat treatment of wood increases its lifespan, known as durability. The higher the temperature, the better the durability. However, the strength of the wood decreases, which is why it is important to choose heat-treated wood from a licensed manufacturer.

Reduced cracking
Because heat-treated wood is very dimensionally stable, cracking of the wood surface is reduced.

Alternative to cedar and tropical woods
Thermowood® is the perfect environmentally friendly alternative to imported woods such as cedar, larch and tropical woods. The reason is that cedar is transported long distances, usually from Canada. Tropical woods are also transported long distances and can in some cases come from environmentally questionable forestry practices. Tropical wood often requires certificates of origin and other documents to be sold.

Through-colored
After treatment, the wood is a solid golden brown color, which means it is easy to process and to split blanks or sand surfaces without noticeable color changes.

No resin
The product is resin-free as the resin disappears during the heat treatment process. The lack of resin prevents the paint from coming off when the resin is released.
