How does the electric stove work?
Electric, gas and wood-fired saunas all heat by convection. In an electric stove, electricity passes through a resistive element. The resistance causes the electrical energy to be converted into thermal energy, and as a result the element heats up. The heat is then transferred from the heating element to the sauna stones stacked on top. The stones then store the heat and thus warm the air surrounding them. Direct contact between the heating element and the stones ensures that the heat is transferred as efficiently as possible.
When the stones are hot, water is gently added to them which then immediately evaporates and creates steam. This steam is then circulated around the room, creating a warm and humid environment in the sauna.
